Portofinolux offers to travellers a coverage of medical expenses and health care for stays up to 180 days duration at a starting cost from EUR 49. The policy is aimed at foreigners who are in Italy or in the Schengen area, even in the case of packages and touring circuits.

Medical expenses
In the event of the Insured’s accident or illness, and except for the Exclusions indicated in this Contract and net of any deductions or excesses shown below, ERV will organise the interventions indicated below necessary to assist the Insured, in accordance with the liability limits and the conditions relating to the class of product chosen by the Contracting Party, through its Operational Centre.
NB: The expenses sustained in medical structures are paid directly by ERV, where possible and subject to the prior contact of the Insured with the Operational Centre. Ø: service or cover not provided; √: service or cover provided Hospital and surgical expenses
Schengen Area € 30,000
Direct payment. Liability limit per person and per insurance period. The cover is provided up to the time the Insured is discharged or consid-ered in the condition to be repatriated. However, the cover is operative for a period of not more than 30 days in hospital. When direct pay-ment cannot be made, the expenses will be reimbursed as long the Insured or the person acting for him contacted the Operational Centre for the opening of the assistance dossier.
Limitations: sub-limit of € 300 daily fee for hospital stay.

Exclusions (supplementing the General (Common) Exclusions)
ERV will not accept responsibility for expenses arising from:
- the purchase of dental or orthopaedic prostheses or therapeutic apparatus;
- voluntary interruption of pregnancy or birth during the trip (for this purpose, a newborn baby although delivered prematurely is not covered by insurance);
- voluntary discharge by the Insured against medical opinion.
